Dear sisters and brothers in the One Global Family,
Happy Valentine's Day! What an appropriate day to reflect on the impact that love has on our lives. Nothing compares to loving and being loved, whether it is the love of a partner, family or friends. Love gives life meaning and direction.
It's similar in the One Global Family: love is the path to peace. Whether it leads to policies that care for others and respect the environment, or motivate us to donate time and treasure to help others, love is the driving force that leads to peace and well-being for all. Loving our neighbours as ourselves is what knits a family, community, country, and world into a harmonious whole.
Love is what makes neighbours kind to each other and respect each other.
Love is why we pay fair prices for our purchases, fair wages to our employees, and pay attention to the value chain.
Love compels us to defend the rights of everyone, because our shared humanity is more important than our differences.
Love is the only thing that can make our countries safe - not armies and arsenals.
Love can even direct our politics. If we base our decisions on love, the policies we support will be good, and we won’t mind which party implements them.
By following the law of love, we will nurture harmonious relationships in our families, communities, workplaces, economies, countries, and planet.
Don’t you want to live in such a world? I do.
Imagine the future we can have if we make the law of love our priority. It will not steer us wrong. Indeed, perhaps love is the only thing that won't steer us wrong.
Not just on Valentine’s Day, and not just in romantic relationships, I wish you more and more love, and more and more enjoyment of living in a peaceful world, as we commit to following the law of love.
